On October 31, 2013 the ceremony of awarding of winners and laureates of the contest «Aircraft Builder of the Year-2013» took place at the World Trade Center. Following the results of the contest, the All-Russian scientific-research institute of aviation materials had won first place in the nomination «Best innovative project» and became the laureate in the nominations «For creation of new technology» and «For contribution to the development of  regulatory documentation base in aviation and aircraft building».

The awarding ceremony was opened by Yury N. Koptev, President of the Union of Aviation Industrials. He greeted the representatives of staffs managed to provide outstanding results of their works in scientific and production areas in the field of aviation to the contest and made a huge contribution to the development of this industry branch. According to Yury Koptev, this event «provides a chance to sum up the work done and it is an evidence of a successful development of military and civil projects in aircraft building industry, and Russia was, is and will be a great aviation power».

In the nomination «Best innovative project» (13 organizations-nominees took part in the competition in all) the organization committee awarded the first prize to the work «Creation of equipment and manufacture technology of polymer composite materials  sizing prepregs on the base of high-deformable binders for primary aviation components», performed by  author body of VIAM.

           The aim of the work is a creation of equipment and manufacture technology of PCM sizing prepregs on the base of high-deformable binders for primary aviation components. As a result,  new high readily-processable PCM semies on the base of high-deformable binders, allowing to manufacture PCM of the world level were developed. All investigations, that were carried out indicate about a high quality of semies. The developed technologies were introduced at VIAM production. At present, the developed materials are included into the structure of parts of engine nacelle and frame of JSC «UAC» и JSC «MC «UEC» and they are under qualification tests and tryout on manufacturing enterprises.  The head of the project is D.I.Kogan, the authors - А.Е. Raskutin, Yu.О. Popov, P.N.Тimoshkov. The diploma and the prize for a victory in the competition was awarded to a member of the author body Alexander E. Raskutin by deputy minister of defense, chief of equipping of Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 1994–2000, general-colonel, Chairman of Director’s council CJSC  «Engines «Vladimir Klimov – Motor-Sich» Anatoly P. Sitnov and director of the Department of innovations and high technologies of Foreign Economical Bank Oleg Yu. Demidov.

The work of VIAM employees «Manufacture technologies of nickel solders for vacuum diffusion brazing of primary parts in the form of powders, tapes and pastes with organic binder» was awarded with the laureate diploma in the nomination «For creation of new technology». Its aim was a development of the manufacture technology of high-temperature nickel solders by atomization method (spraying of a melt with inert gas) and technology of manufacture   of high readily processable semies of tapes and pastes with organic binder on their basis. As a result, new high easy-to-manufacture semiproducts of high-temperature nickel solders in a form of tapes and pastes with organic binder were created. All the presented investigations indicate of high quality of semies, the new technologies have been put to practice at VIAM production.  Chief of the project: А.G. Evgenov, authors: А.N. Afanas’ev-Khodukin, S.V.Nerysh, A.М. Rоgаlev. Aircraft designer, Hero of Socialist Labour conferred on him twice, academician of RAS Henry V. Novozhilov presented a diploma of the competition laureate to a member of the author body Svyatoslav V. Nerysh.  

The organization committee awarded the second prize to the author body of VIAM in the nomination «For a contribution in development of normative base in aviation and aircraft manufacturing» for a creation of a reference book «Aviation materials» (7-th edition, supplemented and remade) in 13 volumes.

There is an information in the reference book about more, than 2.5 thousand materials, both widely used in aircraft manufacturing at present, and the created for the last ten years and recommended to be  used in advanced articles of aeronautical engineering and rocket technology, spacecraft. The edition is intended for designers, technologists and scientific workers of SRI, DB and aeronautical engineering plants; more, than 150 enterprises of the branch   are subscribers of it. General designer of JSC«Kamov», academician of RAS, Hero of the Russian Federation Sergey V. Mikheev and the General secretary of the Union of aviamanufacturers, Executive director of TsAGI after the name of professor N.K. Zhukovsky   Sergey L. Chernyshov presented to deputy General director of VIAM, Candidate of Engineering Sciences Iosif M. Demonis the diploma of the competition in present nomination.
