The only one in Russia, CIS and Europe center on development of beryllium-base alloys and technologies for manufacture of structures components from them for aeronautical, atomic, medical and space engineering with closed production cycle.
Elasticity modulus for beryllium is higher, than the one for steel, titanium, aluminum and magnesium. But such an important parameter as a ratio of elasticity modulus to density is the highest among all metals.
Beryllium and its alloys are widely used in structures of space and special engineering, such as optical large-size light mirrors ( USA manufactures JWST telescope from 18 mirrors of hexagonal form - high characteristics of beryllium on deformation and stiffness per specific mass unit), thin foils with protective coating and brazed x-ray windows from them, service-capable parts from beryllium for nuclear-power units with protective system, gyroscopic assemblies of independent inertial systems with special coatings, structures of beryllium ( thermostabilizers, instrument platforms, parts of gas-dynamic bearings supports, platforms – reduction of structures mass by 60–80%) and aluminum-beryllium alloys (?=2,35 g/сm?, Е/?av=70–80 km (ref. un.), ?в/?av=25 km (ref. un.), ?0,2/?ср=15 km (ref.un.), but acoustic endurance supersedes traditional commercial alloys by factor 10-50), in interplanetary automatic objects and apparatus for remote sounding of the Earth.
The numerated examples of beryllium and aluminum-beryllium alloys application put it in the range of the most important structural materials.
Voskresensk experimental and technological center of VIAM on special materials possesses all advanced technologies of beryllium and its alloys treatment, has a testing and production base, possesses sections:
