On August 30, 2013 in the framework of Aviation and Space Salon MAKS- 2013 the "New generation materials for advanced aerospace engineering" press-conference took place.

Participants of the press-conference were as follows: RAS member Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM); Nikolay N. Gonchar, deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation; Alexander A. Inozemtsev, Managing Director - Chief Designer of OJSC Aviadvigatel; Victor M. Chuyko president of the Association “Aviation Engine-Building Union"; Yuri N. Koptev Director General of the Federal Space Agency in the years 1992-2004 and Sergey M. Vdovin, rector of the Ogarev National Research Mordovia State University.

The participants of the press-conference told about the role and importance of new materials for development of the Russian economics, ensuring the defense capacity of Russia and transition to the new technological mode.

They informed the media representatives about new developments in the field of smart polymer composite materials, lightweight and superheat-resistant alloys, functional materials for airframe and engine of promising aviation and space engineering equipment.

Particular attention was paid to the issue of protection of materials, parts and aircraft constructions against corrosion, aging, biological damages as well as to modern methods of environmental tests.

Besides, the journalists were informed about cooperation of national research universities, research institutes and enterprises of the aerospace industry aimed at training of human resources and improvement of the materials quality management system.
