On February 9, 2022 CEAC and the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials (NRC “Kurchatov Institute” – VIAM) signed the additional agreement on cooperation in the Center of Ecological Studies (CEAC). This document prolongs the agreement of 2016 for 5 more years.

As the Director of CEAC Reinaldo A. Acosta Melián has stated that “our countries are bound by close, fraternal relations, which have recently received a new round of development. Russian-Cuban cooperation in the field of science has a colossal potential, for the implementation of which we must use the wealth of experience gained over the past years”. 

Within the agreement on cooperation scientists of both the NRC “Kurchatov Institute” – VIAM and CEAC conduct joint activities in research of climatic stability of the materials, structural elements and complex technical systems and test them for biological stability. The studies are held at the Russian-Cuban station of climatic tests in Cienfuegos.

Center of Ecological Studies (Centro de Estudios Ambientales de Cienfuegos, CEAC) is the subordinate organization of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of the Republic of Cuba. It is the leading scientific facility which solves application ecological issues basing on fundamental researches.
