On September 21-23 the 15th International exhibition and conference for oil & gas resources development of the Russian Arctic and continental shelf of CIS countries RAO/CIS Offshore was held in Saint-Petersburg.
The All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) presented its inventions at a joint booth of the NRC “Kurchatov Institute”. Participants and guests of the exhibition were able to have a look at the samples of materials (sealant, vibration absorbing material, silicone rubber compound) designed for products operating in extreme climatic conditions.
Moreover, at the booth there was also presented a prototype of a unmanned undersea vehicle’s body frame made of high-strength aluminium-lithium alloy developed in VIAM, as well as a structurally similar prototype of a drawing bar made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic VKU-66Pl based on voluminous reinforced preform. This plastic is used in manufacturing of parts of transmission gears and actuation rods of aviation and helicopter products.
It is necessary to add that on September 23 the VIAM representatives took part in round table “Arctic materials science: cross-disciplinary aspects and comprehensive approach to creation of materials and technologies for reclaiming of the shelf”, which was held within the business program of RAO/CIS Offshore.
Today RAO/CIS Offshore is the biggest national forum which gained international recognition along with the biggest events of the similar theme in Aberdeen, Stavanger, Houston and Baku and took its place in the calendar of world’s marine oil and gas conferences.
Every two years RAO/CIS Offshore forum in Saint-Petersburg attracts specialists from domestic and foreign companies and leading scientists for discussion of the most important aspects of development of Arctic and continental shelf’s resources. During holding of this event about 10 000 delegates and more than 1000 companies took part in it.
