11 - 16 August 2013 representatives of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) Phyodor Karachevtsev and Marina Yakimova are taking part in the 44-th World Chemistry Congress «IUPAC-2013», which is taking place in Istanbul.
As Phyodor Karachevtsev informed «on the 11-st of August, the first day of opening the conference the Nobel’s laureate on chemistry in the year of 2004 Aron Chekhanover made a plenary report». He stressed, that «The report was devoted to a cellular system of protein degradation in lyzosomas and caused a strong interest of those present».
On the 12nd of August the section «Analytical chemistry» started. The report of professor Henric Matusievich, devoted to perspectives of spectral chemical analysis of inorganic materials was of interest for VIAM’s specialists. «A possibility to define trace amounts of bismuth, arsenic, antimony, tin, cadmium and other elements by plasma spectroscopy method in combination with hydrides generation technology is presented in the report», –informed Phyodor Karachevtsev. «Also the report of American professor Harry Christian "Role of analytical chemistry in society : evolution, instruments, practice and usage, teaching of analytical chemistry ", in which a history of beginning and development of analytical chemistry as a section of science is reflected , but also up-to-date trends and methods of analytical chemistry teaching are given», – noted Marina Yakimova.
On the 13th of August Phyodor Karachevtsev shall present a stand report «Application of ICP-AES method for analysis of nickel alloys», in which the results of investigation on selection of methods of probe preparation of samples and chemical analysis of nickel alloys to obtain exact results of measurements. On the same day Marina Yakimova shall acquaint visitors of the congress with stand report «Definition of silicon in metallic materials by ICP-AES method», in which investigation of parameters of probe preparation of aluminum and nickel alloys samples is considered for exact definition of silicon in metallic materials.
11 different sections are working within the frames of the congress. Besides reports in the field of chemistry, presentations on a number of other research directions were made. Including other ones, a great attention was paid to issues of «pure» energy, ecology, materials science, safety and education. Participants of the congress have an opportunity to visit an exhibition of modern equipment from leading manufacturers.
