The All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) took part in another stage of “Otkroy#Mosprom” project organized by the Department of investment and industrial policy of Moscow.
“Otkroy#Mosprom” project has existed since March 2019. It united various formats: offline and online excursions to the industrial facilities of the capital, lectures, master classes, intellectual games and other special events. More than 14 thousand people took part in offline events, and the online audience of the project was more than 7.7 mln viewers. Throughout its existence more than 400 excursions have been held to 46 industrial facilities and sites of 5 industrial museums of the capital.
Under this project guests visited the VIAM museum and got acquainted with the history of origination and development of the aviation materials science, with unique inventions of VIAM scientists that were used in aero-space engineering - the Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik attack aircraft, the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17 fighter aircraft, the Antonov An-124 Ruslan wide-bodied transport aircraft, the Buran spacecraft, the Saturn AL-31 turbofan engine with variable thrust vector and etc.
The guestы also were able to know many other interesting facts from the VIAM history, main areas of focus and Institute’s achievements in development of new materials and technologies.
Moreover, the participants of the excursion had a look at the exposition of components of aero-space engineering made from the VIAM materials.
