On June 17, 2013 the delegation of FSUE VIAM has participated in official opening of the International Paris Air Show taking place at Le Bourget exhibition center in the suburb of French capital. The 50th, jubilee air show promises to become the largest in recent years.
General Director of VIAM, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Evgeny Nikolaevich Kablov heads the delegation. In the first day of the Air Show VIAM specialists carried out number of meetings and negotiations with representatives of different companies.
The delegation of VIAM visited exhibit location of AMETEK company where VIAM from one side and AMETEK/ATLAS Material Testing Technology from another side signed the Memorandum of intent to develop joint scientific and technical activities. The document was signed by Evgeny Kablov from VIAM and vice-president of AMETEK Jonathan Orr from AMETEK and ATLAS. This Memorandum serves as the first step toward cooperation between the partners and besides it confirms intention of VIAM to joint «ATLAS community».
At the stand of Europe Technologies company commercial director of the company, Luc Furlani and deputy director general of VIAM Denis Grashchenkov discussed perspectives of joint cooperation. As a result of negotiations parties made the decision on possibility of implementation of the joint engineering projects focused on development in Russia of the industry of polymeric composite materials for civil purposes.
By PPG Aerospace invitation the delegation of VIAM visited jubilee exposition of the company which in days of this Air Show celebrated the 50th anniversary of their activity in aeronautical business. During negotiations the parties confirmed their mutual interest in cooperation and agreed to develop and jointly implement specific scientific and technical projects on creation of new innovative aerospace products and certification of PPG products by VIAM test center. Denis Grashchenkov congratulated Kevin Ramsay, commercial director of PPG Aerospace and in the person of him all staff of the company on the anniversary and gave him memorable souvenirs.
In conclusion of work of the first day of the exhibition General Director of VIAM, academician Evgeny Kablov held business meeting with Chairman and CEO of Vacuum Technologies GmbH, Dr. Markus Holz. As a result of the meeting all obligations assumed by ALD in connection with manufacturing and delivery of vacuum induction melting units (VIM) and vacuum arc remelting units (VAR) designed according to specifications of VIAM were confirmed by the company.
The second day of participating in the Airshow started with negotiations with the representatives European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS).
During luncheon General Director of VIAM, academician of RAS Evgeny Kablov and leading technical specialist of EADS Doctor Jean Botti exchanged the views about a possible ways of future cooperation development between EADS and VIAM, including with involvement of regional Russian industrial parks and enterprisesTechnical issues, which are of mutual interest and concern developments of a new generation of corrosion-free alloys on the basis of aluminium, superlight aluminium-lithium alloys, multifunctional materials for highly intergrated structures and nanocrystal alloys, simulation of material behavior, were touched upon during meeting. Deputy General Director Denis Grashchenkov and Technical Director of Russian technological department EADS – Innovation developments Richard Forster.
As results of negotiations the parties determined the main directions for collaboration and decided to prepare concrete projects in the field of additive technologies and composite materials for joint realization of perspective developments implemented by the company. Specialists and management of EADS marked actuality of the development of automated autonomous methods nondestructive control of composite structures, which were presented by Nikolay Aleshin, Head of a chair of Bauman Moscow State Technical University. In conclusion of the meeting the operating prototype of completely electric single-seater two-engined aircraft (including power electric engine unit with power 60 kilowatt) was demonstrated to the delegation of VIAM. Management and specialists of EADS express confidence that on the basis of offered conception it would be possible in the nearest future to create a passenger aircraft.
VIAM also conducted meetings with the following Ukrainian partners – Motor Sich JSC and Antonov Company.
Negotiations between academician of RAS Evgeny N. Kablov, General Director of VIAM and academician of the Engineering Academy of Ukraine Vyacheslav A. Boguslayev, the President and the General Designer of JSC Motor Sich were devoted to the analysis of the current cooperation between two enterprises and to the prospects of its development. The heads of the enterprises discussed some aspects of execution of the joint works concerning examination and approval of specifications on materials for aircraft engines produced by JSC Motor Sich, quality assessment of materials applied at manufacturing of articles under production conditions at JSC Motor Sich and manufacturing and delivery of vacuum melting and casting equipment developed by VIAM to the Ukrainian enterprise. The Parties considered the further development of cooperation in the following directions: heat resistant alloys, bearing steels, special long-life coatings for blades and combustion chambers, polymer composites for modern and advanced developments of the company. A special attention was given to collaborations in the field of materials for the engine of the advanced Russian helicopter.
Experts of VIAM examined the exposition of the Aerospace Salon, where up-to-date technologies for creation of advanced flight vehicles and propulsion units were presented. A considerable attention of participants of the Salon was paid to the automation of technological processes and to the technologies providing a reduction in material consumption of production processes.
A considerable part of the exposition was occupied by unmanned flying vehicles. In particular, the delegation of VIAM examined features of a unique exhibit of the Salon provided by the European companies - "Neuron" UMFV which became a real sensation of the anniversary exposition in Le Bourget.
At the end of the second day of the Salon, Evgeny Kablov held an official meeting with Dmitry Kiva, the President and the General Designer of GP "Antonov". Olga Ospennikova and Denis Grashchenkov, deputy general directors of VIAM also took part in the negotiations. Grigory Rudyuk, the first vice-president and the chief designer participated from the Part of GP "Antonov".
The ways of the further implementation of provisions of the Governmental Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Ukraine about cooperation in the field of development, production, deliveries and operation of aviation engineering and implementation of solutions of the 11th meeting of the Subcommittee on cooperation in the field of aviation industry of the Committee on economic cooperation of the Russian-Ukrainian Interstate Commission were considered. The Parties discussed trends in cooperation between VIAM and GP "Antonov" aimed to creation of advanced aviation engineering and mass production of An-70, An-148/An-158 aircraft etc., and agreed to coordinate the specified directions of cooperation and to consider possibilities of their implementation within the works on ensuring scientific maintenance of the Russian-Ukrainian programs in aviation industry. A bilateral Protocol on intentions regarding collaborations and scientific and technical cooperation was signed as a consequence of the decisions made.
