At the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line of the Moscow Metro the new thematic train “Moscow industry for the front” has been launched. The train will be running for half a year and will let the passengers know more about the labor exploits of the capital enterprises during the Great Patriotic War.
Passengers will be able to have a look at the rare war-time photographs provided by the Moscow Central Records Office (“Glavarchiv”) and the Moscow Victory Museum assisted in preparation of the historical references. This project presents the archive materials of 50 enterprises including the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM).
Muscovites and visitors will be able to know more about the VIAM developments during pre-war and war-time. For example, they will learn about aviation armor of the Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik, transparent armor, special types of transparency as well as fiber tanks with rubber thread and aviation camouflage paints.
There are more than 200 photographs exhibited in the thematic train carriages as well as more than 170 facts about the labor exploits of the Moscow factories.
During trips passengers will be able to listen to the stories about the deeds of the Moscow working men as well. Vasily Lanovoi, the People's Artist of the USSR and Valentina Talyzina, the People's Artist of the RSFSR are the narrators of the project.
