The delegation of the All-Russian scientific-research institute of aviation materials (VIAM) made a business journey to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from April 9 to April 14, 2013.

On April 9 the representatives of VIAM with assistance of the trade mission of the Russian Federation in Vietnam visited the Vietnamese Academy of Sciences and Technologies (VAST) in Hanoi where negotiations with the top management of the Academy on prospects of scientific cooperation were held. Also the international conference devoted to the main aspects of material science with reference to an influence of tropical climate conditions took place at VAST.

In his turn, Cand. of Sciences (Tech.) Denis V. Grashchenkov, deputy general director of the institute informed about main activities and prospects of VIAM. Evgeny Nikolaev, chief of environmental resistance department presented the report «The Moscow and Gelendjik climatic centers of VIAM - elements of national network of climatic tests of materials and articles». A great interest of the Vietnamese Party was provoked by the presentation film about VIAM which was shown during the conference.

On the basis of results of the Conference, the Parties agreed a number of prospective trends of collaboration and expressed an interest to establish a long-term partnership. «The Russian and Vietnamese Parties confirmed their mutual interest in collaboration and evaluate the visit as the first step to a successful development of future cooperation», – declared Denis Grashchenkov.

Within the framework of the conference the Russian delegation was acquainted with activities and facilities of the Institute of materials science and VAST. 

On April 10 the representatives of VIAM visited the 23rd International diversified exhibition «Vietnam Expo - 2013» held in Hanoi.

The specialists of VIAM inspected the exhibition stands of the following enterprises: Hanshin, Joint-Mag Magnetic Material, Harbin Electric Machinery, Haritham technologies, Cosmos international, etc. In total, more than 150 exhibitors from 12 countries took part in Vietnam Expo 2013, including Vietnam, Russia, Slovakia, Cambodia, India, South and North Korea, Indonesia, Laos, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and Malaysia.

«Vietnam Expo - 2013» exhibition is one of the largest international exhibitions in the Asian region and is carried out annually with support of the Ministry of industry and trade of Vietnam», – noted Vladislav V. Zyryanov, head of International cooperation and foreign economic affairs department of VIAM.

On April 10-12 the delegation of VIAM visited the Russian-Vietnamese scientific Tropical center where the Round Table was held. Some possible tasks of cooperation were discussed within the framework of the Round Table. The ground-based climatic station and laboratories of the Tropical center were demonstrated to the Russian specialists. Representatives of VIAM also visited the Sea climatic station of the Tropical center located on the island near Nha Trang.
