The representatives of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) Sergey Skripachev and Mikhail Daskovsky took part in the closing review Conference of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) devoted to the projects of fundamental scientific researches supported within the framework of the Russian-Cuban contest. The event took place on February 5^th, 2020 in the University of Havana.

The Chairman of the RFBR Academician of RAS Vladislav Panchenko and the Vice-Minister of Science, Technology and Environment of Cuba Armando Rodrigez opened the Conference.

Sergey Skripachev presented the summary report on the joint work of VIAM and CEAC (Cienfuegos Center of the Ecological Studies). The Conference general committee highly appreciated and mentioned as an example the success of both VIAM and CEAC in the development of the international scientific cooperation on the basis of the Russian-Cuban Station for Climatic tests of materials and structural components affected by the tropical climate of the Caribbean. Moreover, it would be desirable that the Russian-Cuban Climatic Tests Station would become a hub for international scientific projects with a wide participation of universities and scientific facilities of both the Russian Federation and the Republic of Cuba.

It is worth reminding that in December 2018 the Russian-Cuban Station for Climatic tests of materials and structural components was opened in Cienfuegos. The VIAM specialists together with their Cuban colleagues conduct research works on examination of the climatic and biological resistance of the materials, as well as study of the climate impact on ecosystem change. The program of cooperative work is acknowledged till 2024.

This project is a priority within the framework of activity of the science, technology and environment group of the Russian-Cuban intergovernmental committee for trade and economic and science and technology cooperation. The foundation of this station was approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

The Cienfuegos Center of the Ecological Studies (Centro de Estudios Ambientales de Cienfuegos, CEAC) is the subordinate organization of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of Cuba. It is the leading scientific facility which solves the applied ecological issues on the basis of fundamental researches.
