On December 18th, 2019 Tatiana Alexeyevna Golikova, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation visited the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM). During the visit she got acquainted with the Institute scientific activity, modern industrial equipment and recent developments of VIAM.
For instance, Tatiana Golikova has taken a look at the Institute’s developments in the field of metallic and polymeric composite materials which are applied in modern homeland aircraft and aircraft engines including PD-14 and PD-35.
Moreover, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation has got familiar with the end-to-end additive manufacturing, which includes all process stages – from melting of a burden blank and its atomization to the synthesis of finished parts and their post-treatment. Tatiana Golikova has also seen samples of aircraft engineering parts, produced by means of selective laser melting and got acquainted with the breakthrough developments in this field.
The VIAM Director General, Academician of RAS Evgeny N. Kablov reported to the vice prime minister about the main directions of activity of the Institute, current activities, VIAM development perspectives and financial and economic figures. “VIAM today is the largest center of materials science performing fundamental and applied researches. We develop knowledge-intensive production of new generation materials, semi-products and unique process equipment”, - the VIAM Director General said.
During the visit Tatiana Golikova also has held a meeting devoted to the role and place of the state scientific centers of the Russian Federation in implementation of the national project “Science”.
