On November 28^th, 2019 fifth-grade students of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University visited the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM); the students’ major is “Design, manufacturing and operation of missiles and rocket space complexes”.

In the VIAM museum the students learned about the stages of foundation and development of the aeronautical materials science, inventions of the Institute scientists which were applied then in the legendary aerospace devices - the Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik, the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17 fighter aircraft, the Antonov An-124 Ruslan airlift quadjet, the Buran space-plane and many others.

Students also got to know many interesting facts about the VIAM history, its main activity directions and achievements.

Moreover, the students were able to have a look at the exhibition display of the Institute where various aeronautical and space engineering components made of VIAM materials were presented. o

“It is difficult to overstate the significance of modern materials for the development of the new equipment samples. Today the institute specialists made a very interesting and intelligible narration concerning this issue. It is due to the labor of the materials engineering scientists it is possible to implement many advanced projects in various branches of industry”, - Ivan Maslov, the Bauman Moscow State Technical University student said.
