On August 19th, 2019 the employees of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials (“VIAM”) visited the National Center of Climactic Research (CNIC) of the Republic of Cuba. During the visit they held the business meeting with the Cuban colleagues concerning the development of cooperation in the field of corrosion, aging and bio deterioration in oceanic climate.

The VIAM representatives also visited the Tropicalization Laboratory at the Technology and Quality Center where they found out more about the infrastructure and the current activities of the Lab.

It is necessary to mention that VIAM has a successful cooperation with the scientific institutions of the Republic of Cuba. For example, in December, 2018 in Cienfuegos the Russian-Cuban Station for Materials and Structural Elements Testing was opened. The VIAM specialists and their Cuban colleagues conduct the conjoint research of climatic and biological resistance of materials, as well as study the climate influence on the ecosystem changing. The program of works of the joint station is scheduled till 2024.
