In the frame of the PоLaRBEAR (Production and Analysis Evolution for Lattice Related Barrel Elements under Operations with Advanced Reliability) project All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) is invited to participate in cooperative Russian-European call for aeronautics research under the nomination: «Reliable novel composite aircraft structures based on geodesic technology».
Coordinators of the PоLaRBEAR project are FSUE the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after prof. N.E. Zhukovsky (TsAGI) from the Russian part and Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V. (DLR) from the EC part.
As it is noted in the letter of Sergey L. Chernyshev, Executive Director of TsAGI addressed to Evgeny N. Kablov, General Director of VIAM «Participation of FSUE VIAM in the PоLaRBEAR project would be desirable both for successful development of the project and for development of close cooperation between our institutes in the field of promising aircraft structures».
It should be noted that PоLaRBEAR follows ALaSCA, the international project which was launched in 2010 and focused on development of advanced «pro-composite» aircraft structures based on the geodesic (grid) technology. At the same time PоLaRBEAR in contrast to ALaSCA is intended for analysis for strength behavior of the geodesic structure of composite barrel in more details including development of effective protection for lattice elements against impact and climatic attacks.
In addition to DLR, TsAGI and VIAM the number of participants of the project included: Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia, scientific and engineering company «NIK-Samara», Airbus Operations GmbH (Germany), Technical University of Braunschweig (Germany), University of Leeds (United Kingdom), SMR S.A. Engineering & Development (Switzerland), software company MacNeal-Schwendler Corporation (MSC) (German branch).
