The All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials (“VIAM”) Common Meeting took place on December 27th, 2018. During the common meeting the results of the work of the Institute and its branch offices were summed up for the present year and the perspectives and tasks for the year 2019 were considered.
The event started with the presentation of the letter of gratitude from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir V. Putin to VIAM Director General, Academician of RAN Evgeny N. Kablov for participating in preparation and arrangement of the election of the President of the Russian Federation in 2018.
The letter of gratitude was presented by the State Duma Deputy of the Russian Federation Nikolay N. Gonchar.
The detailed report was made by the VIAM Director General. Evgeny Kablov presented the main financial and economical figures of VIAM and thanked the employees for the great amount of job done for implementation of governmental programs. “The year has been by all means productive for our Institute. In the modern world science and material engineering prove rather essential. That is why our work, work of every VIAM employee is highly important for our country, its defensive capacity.” – Evgeny Kablov noted.
VIAM First Deputy Director General Olga G. Ospennikova presented the volume of the Institute production, equipment produced and scientific and production activity of the branch offices.
She paid great attention to the training of highly skilled specialists; the take place on the premise of Corporate Material Engineering University, where the study are held on the principals of higher technical education institute – 70% of practical studies, 30% of theoretical ones. “This year 254 people from 75 companies have completed the refresher course in VIAM, more than 270 students have done internship – this is a good index.” – Olga Ospennikova said.
She also noted that since 1997 the Institute personnel has been freshened up to 90%, the average age of the employees is 40 years.
The remarkable event in the life of the Institute was the project by the science-and-education center for personnel training “Corrosion, aging and bio deterioration” that had been presented at “Hydroaviasalon”.
“Organization of the center on the premise of VIAM will allow to solve the personnel problems and provide personnel training for “engineering and corrosion” specialists.” – Olga Ospennikova underlined. “The works done in the center will allow to reduce the losses from destruction, time-outs, function losses of complex technological systems and infrastructure on the territory of the Russian federation.” – She said.
VIAM pays much attention to charity. This year more than $14 million were transferred to charitable purposes. “VIAM employees raised money to help the children from the children care centers. Moreover, books for school libraries have been bought, as well as various technical devices for the country museums.” – Olga Ospennikova said.
VIAM Deputies Director General Vladislav V. Antipov and Denis V. Graschenkov reported on the certain research works for the good of aviation industry.
At the end of the meeting the VIAM Director General thanked the personnel of the Institute for productive work during the year, appealed to not to stop on the achieved results and greeted everyone on the upcoming holidays.
