A group of young engineers of All-Russian research institute of aviation materials (VIAM) took part in the International Conference “Junior Euromat 2012” which was held in Switzerland from July 23 to July 27.
The following specialists visited Lausanne: Pavel Min, Evgeny Alekseyev, Julia Klochkova and Julia Lebedeva and hold the reports: «Resource-saving technology of processing of Ni-based superalloy wastes» (authors - P.G. Min, V. V. Sidorov, V.E. Rigin, A.V. Goryunov), «Deformation processing of alloys based on orto-Ti2AlNb- phase» (authors - N.A. Nochovnaya, V.I. Ivanov, E.B. Alekseyev, A.V. Novak), «Commercialization of V-1469 Al-Cu-Mg-Li-Ag alloy» (authors - Yu.Yu. Klochkova, O.E. Grushko, V.F. Shamray), «Structural high-temperature ceramic composite material» (authors - E.N. Kablov, D. V. Grashchenkov, N.E. Schegolev, S. S. Solntsev, N. V. Isayeva).
Guests from Moscow heard and analyzed reports of the colleagues, examined scientific stands of other participants of the Conference, actively studied foreign experience, and also carried out a number of meetings.
As Pavel Min emphasized, «among other events, we have got acquainted with the main tendencies in development and application of advanced Nb- based heat resistant alloys, titanium alloys, development of shape memory materials and researches on crack resistance improvement».
Julia Lebedeva reported that «some leading institutes in the field of materials science and metallurgy have taken part in the Conference: University of Siegen, Ruhr-University Bochum, University of Duisburg-Essen, University of Sheffield, University of Rouen, University of Manchester, Institute for Metals Superplasticity Problems of RAS, Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science (IMET), Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys (MISIS), Moscow State University (MGU)». «In addition to the development of new material compositions they conduct an active search of energy- and resource-saving technologies of their production», - she noted.
In her turn, Julia Klochkova stated that she gave her special attention «to reports in the field of development and researches of aluminum alloys». «I have examined the main tendencies in the field of development of aluminum wrought alloys and their application in aviation and automotive industry, researches of weldability, an influence of structural-phase state on crack resistance characteristics», - she reported. According to Julia Klochkova, despite development of new materials and technologies, aluminum alloys still are the base structural materials in different areas of industry.
Evgeny Alekseyev paid a special attention to the main tendencies in application, researches and production technologies of titanium alloys. «Their application as implants for human beings, creation of shape memory materials and improvement of crack resistance is of great interest», - he emphasized.
Let's remind that the Junior Euromat Conference has been carried out since 1992 and provides an opportunity to young scientists from different countries to exchange opinions within a wide range of problems in the field of materials science and engineering.
Young scientists from Russia could get acquainted with historical sights of Lausanne. In particular, they visited St. Franzisk’ Church (1272), Notre Dame Cathedral (1275), walked at Geneva Lake admiring the Alps and the well-known Mont Blanc mount.
