On November 28, 2018, Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin visited the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM). During the visit, he got acquainted with the scientific activities of the institute, the latest production equipment, and the latest achievements of VIAM in the field of producing materials of new generation.

The Mayor of Moscow was demonstrated vacuum automated complex developed and manufactured at VIAM for production of cast parts for gas turbine engines.

The unique equipment is supplied to the leading enterprises of the country, including production organizations of Moscow.

In addition, Sergei Sobyanin got acquainted with the research and production center of additive technologies, where he was told about the latest developments of the institute in this field. The specialists of VIAM showed him critical parts of GTE produced by the method of selective laser melting.

Academician of RAS, Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM informed the Mayor about the main activities of the institute, current work, prospects for the development of VIAM, financial and economic indicators. “The institute develops and supplies materials for various sectors of the Russian industry due to low-tonnage production and highly qualified specialists,” – Director General of VIAM said.

During the dialog with the employees of the enterprise, Sergei Sobyanin spoke about the systemic support of innovative industries and the capital industry as a whole. “What I saw here exceeded my expectations. There are unique specialists, unique technologies of present and future, without whom, I think; it is impossible to manage in our aviation industry. At present VIAM has mastered many technologies of the future, including 3D printing of the most complex and important parts of gas turbine engines. It is very important for the city that VIAM is a major employer, creating high-quality and promising work places for the scientific elite of Moscow and highly skilled workers, ” - the Mayor said.

It should be added, that during the visit, Sergey Sobyanin presented awards to employees of VIAM. V.V. Listarkov, I.Yu. Mukhina, N.A. Nochovnaya, V.M. Terekhov, N.V. Shulga were awarded “Thanks to the Mayor of Moscow”. V.V. Sidorov was awarded the title “Honorary worker of industry of Moscow”.
