On August 16, 2018, the All-Russian Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) and the Ulyanovsk region have signed an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation at the V International Air Transport Forum "IATF-2018".
The document was signed by Academician of RAS, Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM and Governor of the Ulyanovsk Region Sergey I. Morozov.
The agreement is aimed at realizing the scientific and technical as well as production potential of enterprises of the Ulyanovsk region in the field of development of polymer composite materials and technologies.
The main areas of cooperation are as follows: in cooperation with universities and industrial enterprises of the region implementation of programs of additional professional education in the field of PCM, materials and products, as well as innovative technologies, including in the field of computing materials science; development and implementation of priority scientific and technical, innovative projects for VIAM and the regions; development of industrial and scientific and technical cooperation between organizations located in the territory of the Ulyanovsk region; organization and holding of seminars, round tables and other events.
As Evgeny Kablov noted, "our joint work allows solving problems successfully that are of paramount importance for the Ulyanovsk region." According to him, a shining example of this is the first and the only automobile arched bridge in Russia, built in the village of Yazykovo according to the unique technology with the use of composite materials of a new generation. In addition, the Ulyanovsk Scientific and Technological Center (branch of VIAM) plays a significant role in the region, where a modern production of polymer composite materials for manufacturing various constructions was organized.
"I am sure that the mutual interest in deepening and developing bilateral cooperation in several strategically important areas will allow implementing scientific and technical as well as production potential of the enterprises of the Ulyanovsk region to the full extent,” – Evgeny Kablov pointed out.

The International Air Transport Forum has been held in Ulyanovsk for the fifth time (since 2011). The main task of the forum this year is to systematize the existing business practices in the field of aircraft building in Russia and the world, their analysis and the formation of recommendations for effective cooperation of all participants of industry. Within the framework of the Forum, VIAM will hold the All-Russian Scientific and Technical Conference "New generation polymer composites. Transfer of innovations from aviation to priority sectors of the Russian economy ".
