In 2018, VIAM has initiated a project aimed at many-side presentation of activities of the outstanding naval commander and statesman Admiral Fyodor F. Ushakov at educational institutions. The project should become an impulse to develop patriotic upbringing through the example of our great compatriots.
So, there was a lesson of history in Karlin Secondary school named after I.S. Polbina (Ulyanovsk region), dedicated to Admiral Fyodor F. Ushakov. The theme of the lesson was built on the basis of materials of the book “Admiral Fyodor Ushakov – holy righteous warrior”, which was given as token gift to pupils of the school.
The children were told about the role of Admiral`s personality in history of Russia. The pupils learnt about the contribution, which Fyodor Ushakov had made to establish and strengthen Black Sea Navy Fleet and about his significant victories and why he was canonized.
The school`s director Roman N. Goryachev expressed his sincere gratitude to the employees of VIAM for given books. “In modern conditions the problem of patriotic upbringing, introduction of young people to the best domestic traditions is very actual. The personality of Admiral Fyodor Ushakov is the striking example of military art, moral purity and integrity”, - he pointed out.
It should be noted, that at the regional level VIAM`s initiative was supported by Vladimir D. Volkov, the Head of the Republic of Mordovia. Next year it is planned to hold a scientific conference in the Republic, devoted to 274th of anniversary from the birth of F.F. Ushakov. The conference will be organized primarily for school teachers and higher-educational teaching personnel to plan and organize thematic lessons.
