From 27 February to 1 March, 2018, the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) participated in the 11^th International Specialized Exhibition  “Composite-Expo”, which was held at International Exhibition Center “Crocus Expo”.

Visitors got acquainted with the latest developments of the institute at the VIAM`s stand (pavilion №8, hall №3, stand № 24m2). In particular, they familiarized themselves with vibration absorbing materials designed to noise abatement inside plane and in crew cockpit, glass-fiber-reinforced plastics as well as carbon fiber reinforced plastics to produce nodes of engine nacelle PD-14.

Besides, there was an exposition of structurally similar sample – triplestriger wing panel with lightning-protective coating VKU-52MZ designed to protect structures of the outer counter of flying vehicle made from carbon fiber reinforced plastic against the impact of light discharges.  

Constructional elements of dust protection device produced from carbon fiber reinforced plastics VKU-42 with the erosion-resistant protection system for advanced helicopter engine was presented at VIAM`s stand.

Prototype of rapidly-erected arched bridge with the application of smart PCM held a special place at the stand. Specialists of VIAM developed carbon and glass fiber reinforced plastics for loadbearing constructions of bridges, which was erected in the settlement of Yazykova, Ulyanovsk Region.

Within the framework of the event, representatives of the institute held consultations on modern composite materials, developed at VIAM as well as told visitors about VIAM`s work and achievements concerning this field.
