On December 27, 2016 a General Meeting of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) was held, at which the work of the institute and its branches was summed up for the current year and also perspectives and tasks for 2017 were considered.
Academician of RAS Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM made a detailed report on that subject.
In particular, he told about financial and economic indicators of the institute, informed about concrete scientific works, which were performed for the benefit of aviation industry and other sectors of domestic economy as well as volumes of manufactured by the institute products.
Evgeny Kablov paid special attention to VIAM`s developments, including in the field of additive technologies. “For the first time in Russia we manufactured a prototype of low-sized gas-turbine engine for unmanned aircrafts by using additive technologies. This is, without exaggeration, groundwork, which will allow implementing our ideas in this field in the future”, - he pointed out.
The Director General of VIAM touched on a theme about the training of highly qualified personnel, which took place on the basis of the Corporate University of materials science. “This year our institute has been accredited by Rosobrnadzor. The accreditation gives the right to issue master`s state-recognized degree”, - Leader of VIAM pointed out. He also noted that numerical composition of the institute had been renewed by 80 per cent and the average age of employees was 41 for almost 20 years.
Besides, Evgeny Kablov informed the attendees about conferences, participation of the specialists of VIAM in exhibitions, seminars, publication activity, he noted the best mentors according to the results of the years and the employees, who had defended successfully Candidate`s dissertation.
In the course of the meeting, Evgeny Kablov also answered the questions of the audience, which, particularly, related to implementation of Import Substitution Program, collaboration of VIAM with foreign companies, state of business in domestic science and industry.
In conclusion of the meeting General Director of VIAM thanked a collective body for a diligent work in the slipping away year and called upon not to stop at the achieved successes, but also congratulated with the coming New Year holidays.
