On November 15, 2016, an excursion for school students of the 4^th grade of V.P. Chkalov School No. 2095 “Pokrovsky kvartal” was organized at the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM).

The exhibition took place in the framework of the annual contest «Materials scientist for the future», designed to attract children with scientific-engineering mentality and interested in materials science.

The school students were shown a museum and were told about the history of the institute and the main directions of activity. In particular, the children were interested in lacquer coatings, used for painting plains during the Great Patriotic War.

Besides, the guests learnt about insulting tiles applied in construction of spaceship “Buran”.

The school students also visited laboratory, where modern coating materials were developed and tested. They were told about the specificity of appliance of these materials in aviation industry.

The children thanked the specialists of the institute for the interesting excursion.
