Works in the frame of the program “Climatic tests of polymer composite materials and structurally similar elements of them” have been completed within the terms of the agreement between VIAM and JSC “Aviadvigatel” at G.V. Akimov Gelendzhik Climatic Testing Center.

Climatic tests of structurally similar elements produced with the application of modern plastics have been carried out for two years. Part of the samples, exposed continuously in the open air, is subject to additional impact, simulating flight thermal cycle and that is an important feature of the tests.

As Valery Startsev, Acting Head of laboratory of climatic tests pointed out, “Performed at GCTC tests of structurally similar elements, units, aggregates and determination of aging process effect on changes in working characteristics of materials will allow accurately ground the increase of specified time in service as well as solve the most important task to predict behavior of constructions under service conditions.”

Akimov Gelendzhik Climatic Testing Center (GCTC VIAM) is the only scientific climatic testing center in Russia, allowing to perform complex tests of materials, components of structures and articles as well as optimization of protective systems against corrosion, ageing and biological damages in the coastal climatic condition.
