On June 23, 2016, Cand. of Sc. (Tech.) Mikhail Bakradze, Head of laboratory of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials reported at a plenary meeting of the International Scientific-Technical Conference “Problems and prospects of engine-building development”. The meeting was held at Samara National Research University named after S.P. Korolev.
In his report Mikhail Bakradze noted the key role of materials and technologies of new generation in development of modern gas turbine engines. “It is impossible to develop a competitive engine with high performance specifications, reliability and resources without the use of high-temperature natural composite metal materials, intermetallic titanium alloys, ceramic, ceramic-metal, polymer composite materials of new generation”, - the representative of VIAM declared. According to him, for example, different countries don`t finance projects, which provide for less than 30% of materials of new generation.
Besides, Mikhail Bakradze informed attendees of the conference about VIAM`s developments based on additive technologies, as well as closed cycle of additive manufacturing, created at the institute. “This infrastructure allows to develop technologies and to produce details within short timeframes, meeting requirements of regulatory documentations”, - he explained.
It should be added, that the subject matter of the conference covered a wide range of issues, related to designing and production of aerospace engineering, personnel training for innovative machine building. The Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, Administration of the Samara Region, Samara Scientific Center of RAS, the Central Institute for Aviation Motor Development named after P.I. Baranov, PJSC “Kuznetsov” and other leading industrial enterprises and organizations acted as organizers of the scientific forum.
