On May 21, 2016, a volleyball tournament among employees of VIAM was held at a recreation facility “Konakovo” of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials and was devoted to the 71^th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Teams such as: Testing center (“Strike force”), Chief Engineer`s office (“Kernel”), and also select teams, formed by the directions of metallic materials (“breaking machine”) and non-metallic materials (“boomerang”) took part in the competitions.

Aleksey M. Smirnov, chairman of the Council of young scientists and specialists pointed out, that the tournament was devoted to the final celebration of the 71^st anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War at VIAM. “We honor and remember all those, who made an invaluable contribution to the victory over fascist invaders. Among them were people from VIAM who fought with enemies on the battlefield, and also developed all necessary materials for production of aviation equipment”.  – He said.

The tournament was held in a circular system. According to results of the game, the victory became the team “breaking machine”, the select team “Strike force” was in second, and the team “boomerang” was in third place.

By results of the tournament, the chief of TC, Aleksey N. Lutsenko, the captain of the team of the testing center pointed out, that the competition had been held at a high organizational and sport level. “I want to thank all the teams for the participation, and I am sure that everybody has gotten huge energy and positive emotions,”- he said.

It should be noted, that the victorious team and the prize winners of the tournament were awarded with medals and honorary certificates.
