On April 13, 2016 a delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan headed by Rustam N. Minnikhanov, the President of the Republic visited the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM).
In the course of the visit, the guests got acquainted with scientific activities of the institute, achievement of VIAM in the field of materials science, performance of modern scientific and production equipment and low-tonnage manufacture, as well as they spoke with the specialists of the institute.
In particular, Rustam Minnikhanov viewed high-technology scientific and production complexes to obtain powders for additive technologies and powder solders, serial production of cast bar stocks of heat-resistant alloys, polymer composite materials, ion-plasma coatings, casting of single crystal blades of gas turbine engines. The head of the region had particular interest in equipment for production of complex parts by using additive technologies and complex of laser hybrid welding.
Academician of RAS Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM spoke about achievements of the institute in the field of development of materials and technologies of new generation as well as achievements in the development and implementation of additive technologies, which should become the key direction of development of domestic industry. “The use of additive technologies is a harbinger of the sixth technological wave and true indicator of innovative development of the state. They can ensure the implementation of national technological initiative, to which the President of Russia has referred in his message to the Federal Assemble,” – Evgeny Kablov pointed out.
The guests were demonstrated samples of parts, produced by the use of additive technologies from metal powder compositions, developed at VIAM. The employees of the institute reminded, that one of the presented detail – front combustion chamber swirler – had been included into documentation of the newest aviation engine PD-14.
Rustam Minnikhanov also paid great attention to the development of VIAM in the field of polymer composite materials (PCM), which were the most in demand not only in aircraft industry but also in other branches of industry.
Evgeny Kablov informed that more than 300 grades of PCM had been developed for the needs of aviation and aerospace industry at VIAM. “New developments are not inferior to foreign analogues and exceed them in a number of characteristics. In particular, it is the generation of composites which are applied in constructions of “Sukhoi Superjet” plains, as well as in the process of creating of MC-21 short-medium haul passenger airliner and high-speed helicopter”, - Director General of VIAM pointed out.
In the course of the working meeting, the parties discussed the results and prospects of scientific and technological cooperation, stages of development of high-technology innovative products by enterprises of the Republic. One of the centrals themes was the measures implementation to establish VIAM`s branch in Tatarstan.
Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized the importance of further cooperation between VIAM and other enterprises of Tatarstan, including in the direction of development and implementation of laser and additive technologies. Besides, he gave instructions to all interested organizations to prepare plan of measures for evaluation and implementation of parts, produced by additive technologies and to submit it for the approval to Minpromtorg of the Republic of Tatarstan.
In conclusion, the Head of Tatarstan highly appreciated the achievements of the institute and noted the special role of VIAM in engineering of materials, which are necessary for development of domestic industry and for implementation of tasks, set up by the Leadership of the country.
The delegation members of the Republic of Tatarstan were: A.A. Karimov, Deputy Prime Minister of RT – Minister of Industry and Trade of RT; R.K.
