On January, 26, 2016 a delegation of deputies of the Basmanny district of Moscow headed by Gennady V. Anichkin, Chairman of Council of Deputies, Head of the Basmanny municipal district visited the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM).

Academician of RAS, Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM told the guests about the history of the institute and the main directions of its activity, prospects for further development of VIAM, and also about performed work on import substitution of foreign materials for domestic analogues.

In the course of the visit, the deputies got acquainted with the research and production base of VIAM and also had a conversation with employees of the institute. In particular, they viewed laboratories, scientific research and scientific production facilities, high-technology low-tonnage production.

The people`s representatives were especially interested in equipment to produce complex details using additive technologies and a unit to cast heat-resistant alloys, which was designed and developed by specialists of VIAM`s design bureau.

Besides, the guests visited a museum of the institute, where they were told about interesting historic facts of domestic materials science, and also about implementation of VIAM`s large-scale projects in the interests of aerospace, nuclear, defense industries and different sectors of national economy.

Within the framework of the visit, a joint meeting was held, at which perspectives of joint cooperation and collaboration on a number of patriotic projects were considered.

According to general opinion of the district deputies, the scale of solved problems, excellent technical equipment and level of training of engineering personnel at the institute made a great impression and confirmed strategic importance of this materials science center for Russia.

Gennady Anichkin presented Evgeny Kablov with a certificate of appreciation for outstanding contribution to science, for organization of training system of engineering personnel and high-technology production in Moscow. He also gave Head of VIAM a book on the history of the Basmanny district and took the initiative to propose E.N. Kablov for title of honorary resident of the district, which the deputies unanimously supported.

Besides, the people`s representatives expressed special gratitude to employees of VIAM for helping to establish a monument to the 7^th Bauman division of the national militia, settled on Razgulyay square last year, and also for reverent attitude to the memory of fallen defenders of Homeland.

Director General of VIAM gave Gennady Anichkin his book titled “Tendencies and benchmarks of innovative development of Russia”, and wished successful work for the benefit of the Basmanny district and its residents.

It should be noted, that in the course of the visit, a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument of VIAM`s employees, died during the Great Patriotic War, was held.
