On January, 14, 2016 Academician of RAS Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) reported at a meeting of the Interdepartmental working group “Scientific support of effective use of natural resources” of the Presidential Council for Science and Education. The meeting was devoted to the development of international scientific-technical links and the system formation of centers of excellence of world level in Russia. 

In his report Evgeny Kablov emphasized the role and place of science in international space and analyzed the experience of participation of VIAM in scientific-technical projects of universal importance.  In particular, he spoke about the development of new technology and the investigation of properties of semi-finished products from aluminum-lithium alloy 1424. “VIAM jointly with OJSC “KUMZ” carried out that work under the contracts with “Airbus”, - he pointed out. Director General of VIAM informed, that within the framework of the implementation of these projects, the institute had developed new materials and technologies, which were superior to foreign analogues. 

Evgeny Kablov highlighted the main issues, which prevented from full international scientific-technical cooperation and suggested ways to solve them. So, the key to the successful development is clearly embedded system of cooperation between scientific, educational organizations and industry with support of business community, which can be constructed in the form of consortia. 

The meeting took place in the Institute of World Economy and International Relations named after E.M. Primakov (IMEMO RAS). Academician of RAS Alexander A. Dynkin, leader of the group, Director of IMEMO held the meeting.
