On December, 18, 2015 a conference titled “Modern achievements in the field of development of advanced non-metallic composite materials and coatings for aviation and space engineering” was held at the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM).
Academician of RAS Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM opened the meeting. He pointed out, that “it is impossible to produce principally new, competitive products without development of materials and technologies of new generation, without the use of the principle “materials-technology-construction-equipment”. The most important thing is that Leaders of the country understand this fact and give priority to materials science”. – Head of VIAM told.
According to him, traditional methods, applied in the XIX and XX centuries, are not able to provide necessary level of development now. “The bases of development of modern materials are mathematical models, digital technologies and consequently, skills of specialists concerning use of these facilities, which allow performing complex materials science tasks quickly and effectively”, - Evgeny Kablov pointed out.
As Director General of VIAM told, “nowadays a campaign was privately announced, when certain groups of states will be precluded from accessibility to modern technologies. We are standing on the threshold, when technologic slavery will be used as a tool of pressure on those countries, which are not able to develop appropriate technologies and equipment”.
In that context, he remembered the conference attendees about “Outstanding success of our science”, namely development of advanced engine PD-14. “It is very pleasant, that during the President`s press-conference, he once again noted that event as the most important one in the national engine engineering”, - Evgeny Kablov pointed out. He also informed that VIAM had made a significant contribution to the development of materials of new generation and technologies for PD-14. In particular, we have developed 20 new materials and improved more than 50 grades of materials, organized the output of semi-finished products of these materials at the metallurgical plants, and also issued all necessary normative-technical documentations for PD-14 components manufacture. Thanks to work on PD-14, we have shown the world, that Russia remains one of the five industrialized countries, which are able to develop full-size gas turbine engine”, - Head of VIAM stated.
Evgeny Kablov concluded his presentation by congratulating the attendees on the outstanding event for the national scientific community, namely development of the database for the best Russian scientific magazines, placed on the platform of Web of Science.
Nikolay P. Simonenko was given a book of Academician of RAS Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM titled “Tendencies and landmarks of innovative development of Russia” for the best report.
The conference attendees expressed their gratitude to the leadership of VIAM, program and organizing committees of the conference for high level of preparation and holding of the event. According to the common opinion, such conferences promote the development of nonmetallic composite materials of new generation in our country.
