Unique full-scale tests of modern polymer composite materials (PCM) have been finished at G.V. Akimov Gelendzhik climatic testing center (a branch of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials) in the water area of the Black Sea.
At the present time, specialists of GCTC VIAM are researching a change of properties of these materials after a six-month outdoors exposure for which purpose 7 kinds of materials tests will be carried out. Besides, for the first time the impact of biofouling and marine environment on changing properties of modern composites will be estimated and also standard organization on research of material constructions made from PCM for resistance against biofouling is developed.
As Sergey V. Panin, Head of GCTC VIAM pointed out, that reliability and versatility of the underwater stand were checked during tests and ways of design improvement of stands for marine tests in the water area of the Black Sea were developed.
FOR REFERENCE
G.V. Akimov Gelendzhik climatic testing center is situated on the western coast of the Gelendzhik bay. The center has all necessary facilities for comprehensive researches to estimate reliability of a wide nomenclature of high-tech products.
GCTC VIAM is the only scientific climatic testing center in Russia, which performs complex tests of materials, structural components and articles as well as optimization of protective systems against corrosion, ageing and biological damages in the coastal climatic conditions.
