On August 28, 2015, a cooperation concept between the All-Russian scientific-research institute of aviation materials (VIAM) and United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has been signed at the International Aviation and Space Show MAKS-2015 by academician of RAS Evgeny N. Kablov, General Director of VIAM, and Yuri Slyusar, President of UAC.
According to the concept, cooperation between VIAM and UAC in the area of development, research, production of materials of new generation and commercialization of resource-saving technologies will be aimed at different stages of the life cycle of aviation equipment.
For example, at creation of new articles, specialists of VIAM will develop new materials and technologies and also determine the research methods of these new introduced materials. Within the frame of the research and development works, the scientists will develop technologies for manufacturing of semi-finished products, parts and components of structures made from materials of new generation.
The introduction of new equipment at the stage of serial production and the development of repair techniques will also be carried out in a close cooperation of specialists of VAIM and UAC.
In addition, establishment of consortia, in which VIAM will cooperate with universities-partners of UAC, institutes of the Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations (Russian Abbreviation “FANO”), industrial enterprises and design bureaus to perform scientific and technical projects, is expected.
"These agreements are of great importance to create high-quality domestic products competitive both on domestic and foreign markets", Evgeny Kablov noted in this regard. In addition, he emphasized that "VIAM possesses not only great experience, but also a powerful, modern scientific, technological, production and test facilities".
