On August 19, 2015, some employees of VIAM have been awarded the commemorative medals in honor of the 25th anniversary of the flight of the reusable orbital spacecraft “Buran”. The ceremony was held at the meeting of the Presidium of Scientific and Technical Council of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials.
The specialists of VIAM were awarded for their contribution to the development of materials, technologies, methods and equipment, which were successfully implemented to serial production at ORPE “Technologiya” named after A.G. Romashin (Obninsk). Oleg N. Komissar, Director General of the Obninsk enterprise, has presented the awards.
As Academician of RAS Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM, declared “development of reusable space system as part of ambitious program “Energy-Buran” confirmed obviously the global leadership of this country in the space engineering, power of the domestic industry and defense potential”. “We should remember those people, scientists, who worked on this complex, but the most important project for the all country”, he pointed out. Evgeny Kablov also wished the young specialists to experience the sense of victory, which felt all people, who had contributed to the successful implementation of the “Energy-Buran” program.
In addition, he pointed out a close collaboration between VIAM and ORPE “Technologiya” in the field of development of materials of new generation for the Russian newest aviation engineering. “By joint efforts we will develop the domestic science and defend the interests of the industry in future”, Evgeny Kablov reported.
In turn, Oleg Komissar pointed out that “the specialists of VIAM made an indispensable contribution to the development of ORPE “Technologiya”, and collaborate work within the frame of the “Energy-Buran” project had pulled together our teams”. “These medals mean a tribute of respect to your professionalism”, Oleg Komissar summed up.
It should be noted, that Vladimir S. Erasov, Galina F. Zhelezina, Andrey V. Zuev, Eduard K. Kondrashov, Ekaterina I. Kosarina, Vera A. Kuznetsova, Vyacheslav T. Minakov, Aleftina P. Petrova, Stanislav S. Solntsev, Yuri N. Shevchenko, Boris V. Shchetanov were awarded.
