On July 2, 2015, Academician Evgeny Kablov, Director General of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM), Nikolai I. Merkushkin, Governor of the Samara Region, Sergei P. Pavlinich, Deputy Director General of JSC "UEC" and Nikolai I. Yakushin, CEO of JSC "Kuznetsov", have taken part in a meeting held on the territory of JSC "Kuznetsov" (Samara).

The event was dedicated to the issues of peopleware of the aerospace industry, as well as to the establishment of a branch of VIAM in Samara, which will deal with protective coating and additive technology.

In addition, much attention was paid to an increase in the yield at casting of blades. In turn, Cand. of Sc. (Tech.) Olga G. Ospennikova, head of scientific-research bureau «Heat-resistant cast and wrought alloys and steels, protective coatings for GTE components» made a report about the prospects of introduction of materials and manufacturing technologies of the new generation to modify and repair the engines developed by JSC "Kuznetsov".

It should be noted, that some agreements concerning preparation of the joint work programs were reached and promising areas of cooperation between VIAM and JSC "Kuznetsov" were specified in the course of discussion.

At the meeting, the parties discussed a possible participation of the engine-building company in the newly constructed industrial park "Gagarin Center", as well as the ways of cooperation with the Samara State Aerospace University (SSAU). "We have agreed to conduct a special discussion on this topic, and suggested participation of representatives of" Kuznetsov "in the supervisory board of SSAU. This is necessary to ensure more active influence of the company on the policy of the university with reference to education and production," Nikolai Merkushin noted. He said that recently JSC "Kuznetsov" has faced to an important task – in two years the plant has to increase substantially the production volume. The state support of development of cooperation between higher education institutions and enterprises implementing complex projects to create high-tech production processes were in the limelight at the meeting.

Evgeny Kablov has noted the great potential of JSC "Kuznetsov" and emphasized that VIAM is interested in the Samara region because of its ability to create new technologies that will be used not only on the local market, but also can be interesting for foreign customers. "We need to engage actively in the modernization of production and application of the newest production technologies and materials of new generation. The complex of these measures allows one to increase productivity, to reduce production costs and to make the new products, which will ensure the superiority of our technology over potential competitors, "- he stated.

In turn, Sergei Pavlinich said that the integration of the powerful scientific base of VIAM and high production capacities of JSC "Kuznetsov" could have a positive effect on development of new engines under the support of local authorities.

The importance of the cooperative work was emphasized by Nikolai Jakushin, CEO of JSC "Kuznetsov". He said that the change of the situation in the experimental-design bureau of JSC "Kuznetsov" would be in the focus in the nearest future. In particular, this year the staffing will be significantly expanded by graduates of SSAU. In addition, many specialists who had left the company earlier will come back to the experimental-design bureau of JSC "Kuznetsov".
