On June 1-4, 2015, Anna Chainikova and Oleg Sorokin, representatives of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) participated in the Second Youth Scientific Conference "Innovations in the materials science". The event was held at A.A. Baikov Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science of RAS.
In frame of the conference, Oleg Sorokin presented the report "Investigation of high-temperature sintering of aviation-purposed ceramics by hybrid SPS/FAST method». His work was dedicated to the possibility of application of one of the most promising ways to consolidate refractory ceramic powders - spark plasma sintering to produce heat-loaded intricate-shaped components of aviation equipment.
In turn, Anna Chainikova made the report "Reinforcement of the silica-alumina glass ceramics with particles of refractory carbides and nitrides" about composite materials with high fracture toughness, micro-hardness, wear resistance and tribological properties, which were developed on the base of strontium silica-alumina glass-ceramics.
It should be noted that the main purpose of the conference was to inform young scientists about the newest research results and to involve them in the information exchange system in the field of modern materials science, development of new materials for various branches of science and technology, technologies of their production.
