On May 30, 2015, a volleyball tournament among employees of VIAM devoted to the 70^th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War” was held at the recreation facility “Konakovo” of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials.

Teams of Testing center (“Strike force”), Chief Engineer’s office (“Kernel”) and also teams formed from the employees of such scientific directions as metallic materials (“Breaking machine”) and non-metallic materials (“Armor”) took part in the competitions.

“Our tournament is dated for the most important date in the history of our homeland.”- Aleksey M. Smirnov, deputy Chief of the testing center, chairman of the Council of young scientists and specialists pointed out in the course of opening ceremony. “We honor and remember all those, who made an invaluable contribution to the victory over fascist invaders. Employees of VIAM who fought with enemies on the battlefield, and also developed all necessary materials for production of aviation equipment were among them”. Besides, he wished all participants of the competition good luck, fair and uncompromising struggle”.

The tournament was held in a circular system. According to the game results, the victory was achieved by the team “Breaking machine”; the team “Strike force” was in second, and the team “Armor” was in third place.

By results of the tournament, Aleksey N. Lutsenko, chief of Testing center, captain of the team of the testing center pointed out, that the competition had been held at a high organizational and sport level. “I want to thank all the teams for the participation, and also to wish the colleagues health, further professional success and sports victories”- he said.

It should be noted, that the victorious team and the prizewinners of the tournament were awarded with medals and honorary certificates.
