On May 19, 2015, VIAM hosted the conference "Sealing Materials and Technologies". It is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Doctor of Technical Sciences Natalia B. Baranovskaya, world-known materials scientist, the chief chemist in the USSR on sealants.
When opening the event, Academician Evgeny Kablov, Director General of VIAM, welcomed the participants and wished them successful work. "We are pleased to see in this hall representatives of design offices, industrial enterprises, research institutes and educational institutions who have met to discuss a wide range of topical problems concerning development and application of sealing materials for various purposes," - said Evgeny Kablov.
According to him, sealing of structural elements, components and assemblies of aerospace equipment is a prerequisite for its perfect performance and long service life. "We need to understand the importance of further researches to create sealing materials with improved combination of properties for their subsequent application in modern equipment," - emphasized Evgeny Kablov.
In his speech, the head of VIAM also spoke about the activities of Natalia B. Baranovskaya, about her scientific achievements in solving the most difficult tasks of sealants development. "Despite all the hardships and blows of fate, Natalia Baranovskaya devoted her life to the science. She has made an enormous contribution to the development of materials with unique properties, most of which are still used in the aviation industry", - summarized Evgeny Kablov.
As the participants of the conference noted, the event was of great practical significance for applied research in the field of sealing materials for different applications. In particular, Sergey Gladkov (JSC "Sazi-Aviagermetik") thanked the governing body of VIAM for "the well-organized conference carried out on a high professional level". According to him, the problems considered during the event were really topical and pertinent. In turn, Svetlana Korneeva, representative of FSUE “Institute of Synthetic Rubbers”, expressed her sincere thanks for creation of such intellectual and very fruitful atmosphere at the conference. "I am sure that today's event will give a new powerful impetus to dialogue and exchange of experiences in our professional environment," - she concluded.
