On May 6, 2015, Academician Vladimir E. Fortov, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has visited the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM).
In frame of the visit he inspected experimental and production facilities of VIAM, in particular research and test complexes, laboratories and high-tech low-tonnage production bays. Specialists of the Institute told about last achievements of VIAM in the field of materials engineering and showed operation of unique equipment.
Academician of RAS Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM told about the main activities and advanced developments of the Institute in the field of creation of materials of new generation. A special attention was paid to the Strategic directions of the development of materials and technologies of their processing for the period until 2030. «Due to a huge scientific potential and own up-to-date low-tonnage production VIAM meets the challenges in the field of development and production of different materials for successful realization of key state programs», – noted Evgeny Kablov.
In addition, the Director General of VIAM discussed with the head of RAS the problems and prospects of development of Russian science, the practical implementation of basic and applied researches. Eugene Kablov told Vladimir Fortov about programs for joint work with RAS institutes, industrial research institutes and enterprises of state corporations, as well as about cooperation of VIAM with the Russian regions.
Vladimir Fortov appreciated highly the scientific achievements of VIAM, perfect up-to-date equipment and high-skilled personnel of the Institute.
On the eve of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, Evgeny Kablov and Vladimir Fortov have laid flowers to the monument of VIAM employees who died during the Great Patriotic War and observed a minute of silence for their memory.
