On April 28, 2015, a delegation of M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) headed by Academician Victor A. Sadovnichy, rector of MSU, visited the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials.
Guests from MSU were acquainted with the research, testing and production base of VIAM and talked with experts of the Institute. Representatives of Russia's largest university estimated highly the scientific and technical equipment of VIAM as well as its production and personnel potential. As Victor Sadovnichy noted "I was very impressed with the scientific and production base of VIAM. Something like that I have seen at some world's leading enterprises only."
In frame of the visit, an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation was also signed by Academician Evgeny Kablov, Director General of VIAM, and Academician Victor A. Sadovnichy, rector of Moscow State University.
As follows from the agreement, the parties will develop cooperation in several scientific, technological and educational areas for implementation of joint research, development and design efforts. In particular, VIAM and Moscow State University are planning to cooperate in creation of innovative small-scale enterprises for production materials of new generation, as well as carrying out works in the field of development of new materials and technologies for their processing to manufacture advanced products. In addition, development of new technologies for production and testing of materials for high-tech and knowledge-intensive industries, including aerospace equipment, mechanical engineering, instrument production, nuclear and energy industries will be carried out. For these purposes, experimental-research base of MSU and VIAM will be used and efforts to educate and to train high-skilled engineering staff will be joined. As Evgeny Kablov explained, "the signing of this agreement is a landmark event that will bring together the human, intellectual, material and technical resources of our research institutions to implement the most important tasks set by the government." He also emphasized that VIAM has been working closely with the chemical and biological departments of MSU.
