December 11, 2014, Deputy General Director of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM), candidate of technical science Olga G. Ospennikova took part in the conference "Laser welding technology of parts manufacturing." The event was held at the Russian-German Center of Laser Technology, St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University.

During the conference, she spoke on "Materials and production technologies of the new generation as the most important element of industrial policy." In particular, she spoke about the classification of additive technology, the prospects for their implementation, as well as the problematic issues of creating additive manufacturing industry in Russia. In addition, Olga Ospennikova informed the audience about VIAM competence center for powder materials and additive technologies. "The Institute has arranged the production of high-quality powders for additive technologies, as well as working to increase the range of powder production to substitute import by 100 per cent" - she said.

Note that the conference was organized by JSC "United Engine Corporation."

Joint Russian-German Centre for Laser Technology was established on the basis of STU under an agreement between Russia and Germany on scientific and technical cooperation in the field of lasers. The Center was organized to support research and development in the field of laser technology for science and industry, followed by introducing them into the production cycle at Russian enterprises.
