On November, 4, 2014, a business meeting was held in Moscow by academician of RAS Evgeny N. Kablov, General Director of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) and Nickolai I. Merkyshkin, Governor of the Samara region. In the course of the event they discussed prospects of cooperation between VIAM and the Samara region in the interests of innovative and economic development of the region.
In particular, it was the matter of application of materials and manufacturing technologies of new generation at enterprises of aerospace cluster, which was being developed in the Samara region. Also implementations of new technologies and materials in other industry sectors of the region such as oil and gas complex, traffic infrastructure and construction were considered.
It should be noted, that VIAM has already cooperated with JSC “AvtoVAZ” and has carried out on its behalf climatic full-scale road tests of “Lada Granta”. These tests are being come out at VIAM’s branch – G.V. Akimov Gelendjik climatic testing center since February of the current year.
The perspectives of the work of the Science and Technology Council headed by Evgeny Kablov, which acts under the governor of the Samara region, and also the problems of training of materials specialists and cooperation with the Samara State Aerospace University, with which VIAM set up a joint laboratory, were considered. The parties also discussed a possibility of creation of VIAM’s branch in the Samara region with consideration for its significance for the aerospace sector.
Evgeny Kablov pointed out: “The head of the Samara region supported the initiative of VIAM”. “We coincided in opinion, that implementation of new materials and modern technologies into industry would essentially help to raise the industrial economic and innovative potential of the Samara region, to solve problems of modernization, energy saving and ecology” – he reported.
It should be noted that in the course of the meeting the ways of solving tasks, announced by Vladimir V. Putin in the President’s message on November, 4, were actively discussed. Let us remember, that the Head of Russia made a point of importance of innovative development of regions and training of engineering personnel in a close cooperation of scientific centers and industry. “I hope that the regions will actively use this opportunity for development of their industrial potential. By additional measures we must support economic and industrial growth in key regions of the country,” – The President of Russia pointed out. Vladimir Putin also informed: “Unfortunately, we have still taught a considerable part of engineers in universities, which had turned away from the real production base, leading edge researches and developments in their fields of activity for a long time. It’s time to stop pursuing amounts and to concentrate on quality of personnel training, to organize training of engineers in leading universities having close relations with industry, and better, of course, in their regions”.
