On December 3, 2014, a delegation of VIAM headed by academician of RAS Evgeny N. Kablov, director general of VIAM, visited Kazan to participate in opening and work of the 14^th International Special Exhibition «Mechanical engineering. Metalworking. Каzan – 2014».

Evgeny N. Kablov together with Rustam N. Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, Ravil Kh. Zaripov, Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan, Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan and Victor V. Semyonov, adviser of the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation took part in the solemn opening ceremony.

In the complimentary address, the Director General of VIAM emphasized a consecutive and systematic activity to increase innovative capacity of the Republic. «In many aspects it depends on Rustam Minnikhanov 's initiatives, on his ability to welcome the novelty and to implement scientific results into the innovative industry of the region», he noted.

At the VIAM booth exhibited in frames of the event, Evgeny Kablov told to Rustam Minnikhanov about main activities of the Institute. The Head of the Republic paid his particular interest to technologies for manufacture of cast bars from heat-resistant alloys with the 100 % use of metal wastes, polymer composite materials of new generation for advanced aviation articles and development of techniques for protection of materials and structures against corrosion, aging and bio-deteriorations.

It should be noted, that in frames of the exhibition the sitting of the second Coordination council of machine-building complex of the Tatarstan Republic took place, where Evgeny Kablov made a report. 

In his report he highlighted the issues of cooperation between VIAM and enterprises of the Tatarstan Republic when creation and implementation of materials and manufacturing technologies of the new generation. « For more effective use of production potential of Tatarstan VIAM is ready to propose its unique developments, which can raise the economic potential of the republic on the new level”, Evgeny Kablov ascertained.

 Particularly, the head of VIAM proposed to realize a number of perspective directions in the field of heat-resistant alloys, ion-plasma coatings, polymer composite materials to the interest of JSC «КМPU».

A possibility of application of new low-cost high-tech titanium alloys for petrochemical complex, perspectives of implementation of the newest technologies in the field of aluminum alloys for machine-building complex, but also developments of VIAM in the field of paintwork materials with a higher service life arouse a considerable interest of the leaders of the republic. Moreover, the participants of the coordination council approved the proposal of Evgeny Kablov about a creation of joint laboratory in the frames of the center for collective use «Climatic tests». Simultaneously, the General director of VIAM proposed to realize in Tatarstan a number of «pilot» projects using polymer composite materials of the new generation in application to civil segments of economics, called by the President of the Russian Federation as priority ones.   

It should be noted, that in the course of the sitting the agreement was achieved about a support of regional projects, drawn up by VIAM by the results of RFFI competitions. The Sides considered also a possibility to arrange a valuable branch of VIAM in Tatarstan on a base of the working joint laboratory.

The Exhibition «Machine-building. Metalworking. Kazan» has taken place in the capital of Tatarstan for the 14-th time. Exposition of exhibitions is placed in two pavilions. 147 companies from  28 cities of Russia  and 4 world countries, presenting an equipment for metalworking and machine-building take part in the exhibitions.
