On November 25, 2014, academician Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM, participated in the plenary meeting of the II Moscow International Engineering Forum (MIEF). The event took place in Ritz-Carlton hotel under support of the Moscow Department of Science, Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship.
Within the event, Evgeny Kablov presented a report about a system of engineering personnel training in the field of materials science, which has been established at VIAM.
In particular, the leader of VIAM informed that «within some years VIAM managed to organize a system of continuous manpower development, which allowed us to educate highly qualified employees both for our institute and aviation industry». According to him, the educational activity of VIAM is directed to a sharp increase in the number of practical and individual training hours, comprehensive practical training and an essential improvement of their quality. «All this promotes formation of young specialists as scientists, development of system thinking, their abilities to analyze the numerous facts and to draw right conclusions», - Evgeny Kablov has emphasized.
The speaker noted, that the system of continuous manpower development is implemented in some stages at VIAM. «The first stage is the annual competition “Materials specialist of future” for school-leavers of Moscow schools. Further, the winners are trained according to the bachelor degree program in one of the leading base higher education institutions of Moscow, and after the successful graduation they entered the VIAM magistracy», - Evgeny Kablov said. «The accumulated knowledge and practical experience are further improved at the postgraduate course of VIAM, which is the final stage of the system of continuous manpower development», - he added.
According to Evgeny Kablov, the institute also implements programs of additional professional education (refresher courses, study courses, etc.). Besides, together with N.E. Bauman State Technology University VIAM carries out training of scientific and pedagogic personnel of the top skills.
In conclusion, Evgeny Kablov noted, that «it is expedient to apply the experience of VIAM in the field of education in other branch SRI and also at large Russian enterprises and concerns, which will be able to get so necessary highly trained young specialists in the end». «Such a structure will allow to ensure the national economy not only with highly trained specialists, but the personnel of high scientific-engineering echelon, the activity of which forms the bases of innovative development of the country», the leader of VIAM stressed.
It should be noted, that in frames of the forum the presentation of the latest developments and advanced technologies of Moscow scientific and industrial organizations, leading universities of Moscow took place. In particular, on the stand of VIAM the information about possibilities of VIAM Educational Center, organization of working on study courses and training on the programs of postgraduate study and magistracy, but also about the competition for school-leavers of Moscow schools «Materials specialist of future-2015» was placed.
Besides, the participants of the event were acquainted with developments of the institute in the field of additive technologies. Specimens of parts, created using 3D-technologies and special runner, demonstrated possibilities of additive production aroused a special interest of visitors.
In the course of the forum, Elena V. Panina, the chairman of MIEF Organization Committee, the deputy of the State Duma of RF visited the exposition of VIAM and appreciated the educational and innovative potential of the institute.

The Regional union of employers ”Moscow Confederation of manufacturers and owners (employers)” under support of the Moscow Department of Science, Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship took the part of the Forum organizer.
Leaders of enterprises and institutions of Moscow and RF regions, representatives of scientific and engineering community, government bodies, home and international professional associations and unions, rectors of leading universities, performing a training of engineering-technical personnel and international organizations took part in the event.
The First Moscow international forum taken place in November 2013, got a wide response, and its recommendations were used at preparation for conducting of the State council of the Russian Federation, dedicated to the issues of improvement of engineering personnel training system.
