On August 20, 2014 the delegation of young specialists of Development Design Bureau Named after A.M. Lyulka, subsidiary of the Ufa Engine Industrial Association, visited the All-Russian scientific-research institute of aviation materials (VIAM). Maxim V. Kuzmin, Deputy Chief Designer of the design bureau headed the delegation.
Let us note that this visit has been arranged following the order of Dmitry O. Rogozin, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, chairman of the Military-Industrial Commission under the Government of the Russian Federation.
During the visit, the guests examined experimental, research and production base of VIAM. In particular, they examined the following complexes: heat treatment, high-precision prepregs, ion-plasma coatings, isothermal forging of heat resistant alloys, bays for mass production of cast charge bars, casting of single-crystal GTE and GTU blades, ceramic composite materials and anti-oxidation coatings, production of powders and powder solders, polymer composite materials of new generation, abrasive polishing of cast charge bars.
In addition, the delegation has visited some research complexes: for chemical express analysis of heat resistant alloys, additive production, high-temperature and fatigue tests, Moscow climatic testing center, center of competence for development and qualification of PCM and also S.I. Kishkina laboratory «Strength and reliability of airframe materials».
Experts of VIAM showed the guests the work of unique equipment and told about the newest developments of the Institute.
Within the visit, the parties also discussed prospective cooperation between VIAM and Development Design Bureau Named after A.M. Lyulka in the field of development and implementation of new materials and technologies in advanced engines.
After the meeting, the representatives of Development Design Bureau Named after A.M. Lyulka shared with press-center of VIAM with their impressions.
According to Maksim Kuzmin, Deputy Chief Designer, a giant work was made at VIAM and many financial assets were invested for development of production base. «I think that today the specialists of VIAM created the necessary advanced developments to design engines of new generation. We can see a huge potential and many directions for cooperation between our enterprises», he emphasized.
Besides, Мaksim Kuzmin mentioned prospects of Training Center created at VIAM, which «undoubtedly, will be in demand by the industry specialists, since own materials specialists should be in every design bureau».
Rinat Ravilov, chief metallurgist of the enterprise, mentioned that «currently, for Development Design Bureau Named after A.M. Lyulka the issues connected with materials using technology, conditions of heat treatment and soldering are the most important». «This is not the first visit to VIAM for me, but during every visit I see something new, the constant dynamic work in the field of production modernization is in process. Equipment is updated; new directions of activity are came up in accordance with current needs of the industry. Cooperation in the field of additive technologies will be new for our enterprise; it allows getting a new quality level of production. Other interesting and perspective direction is metal composites. It is obvious that from the field of theoretical insights VIAM turned to practice in development of this direction. »
«The first and the most important impression of today`s meeting is new equipment», - informed Timur Lanevsky, the chief of group of Development Design Bureau Named after A.M. Lyulka. «It meets to modern requirements and its usage coefficient is a pleasant surprise for us. It gives us a possibility to use these materials in advanced developments being confident that we will get them in needed term and with necessary properties. Strong impression on me made the possibility to make different tests, especially strength ones, since VIAM has all necessary equipment for them. Especially interesting was also technology of "growing" of blades from metallic materials and possibility of studying of these materials in relation to technology».
FOR REFERENCE
Development Design Bureau Named after A.M. Lyulka was created on March 30, 1946. From 1946 to 1984 academician Arkhip M. Lyulka was director of the enterprise. Over the years, the bureau experts have successfully developed a number of aircraft gas turbine engines of various modifications.
JSC "Ufa Engine Industrial Association" - Russia's largest engine company. The history of the enterprise has almost 9 decades. The main activities of the enterprise are production, maintenance and repair of turbo-jet aircraft engines, production and repair of helicopter units, production of equipment for the oil and gas industry.
