On November 27, 2013 the scientific conference “Modern magnesium and aluminum casting alloys” devoted to the 100^th anniversary of distinguished scholar in the sphere of aviation material science and metallurgy, Professor Moritz B. Altman, Doctor of Engineering Science, took place in the All-Russian Scientific-research institute of aviation materials (VIAM).

The task of the conference, as viewed by the organizers of the conference, was the familiarization of aviation and other industries specialists with new developments in the sphere of magnesium and aluminum casting alloys material science.
