In 2013 the All-Russian Scientific-research institute of aviation materials (VIAM) completed the installation of mycological test-benches intended for microbiological resistance testing in three climatic zones.
This became possible as a part of the agreement on cooperation in the sphere of material microbiological resistance research between VIAM and three other organizations: Ecocenter of the Lomonosov Moscow State University (Moscow), the Tsytsin Main Moscow Botanical Garden of Academy of Sciences (Moscow), the Biological Faculty of Ogarev Mordovia State University (Saransk). The goal is to unite the professional, intellectual, material, technical and informational recourses for the development of microbiological resistance testing of materials and components in different climatic conditions:
- temperate cold climate – Skadovsky Zvenigorod Biological Station of the Biological Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University (Moscow Region);
- temperate continental climate – Rzhavitin Botanical Garden of the Biological Faculty of Ogarev Mordovia State University (Saransk);
- simulation of humid tropical climate – pavilion of subtropical and tropical plants of the Tsytsin Main Moscow Botanical Garden of Academy of Sciences (Moscow).
“At all the mycological test sites we have performed cooperative activities on mycological tests of bacterial population, studied their species composition and quantity of potentially biodestructive microorganisms, exposed check specimens of cotton cloth treated with culture medium”, – informed in this regard Alexey N. Lutsenko, head of VIAM Testing Center.
