Alexander B. Povalko, Vice-Minister of Education and Science of Russian Federation visited the All-Russian scientific-research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) on December 12, 2013.

During the visit he got acquainted with activity of the laboratory of chemical express-analysis of heat-resistant alloys, workshop for commercial production of cast rod billets of heat resistant alloys, complexes for casting of single-crystal blades for GTE and GTU, heat treatment, ceramic composite materials and anti-oxidizing coatings

Besides that, Alexander Povalko visited workshops of ion-plasma coatings, isothermal forging of heat-resistant alloys, abrasive grinding of cast rod billets, manufacturing of precision prepregs as well as complex of high temperature and fatigue tests.

Academician of RAS Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM, informed the guest about creation of materials of new generation, cumulative experience and prospective activity of the institute as well as strategic directions of development of materials and their processing technologies for the period up to 2030.

At their turn, VIAM staff demonstrated to Alexander Povalko operation of up-to-date scientific-industrial equipment, unique VIAM developments of materials and technologies, informed about their scientific activity, institute’s achievements in the field of material science.
