On June 28, a solemn meeting, devoted to the 90th anniversary from the date of foundation of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials of the National Research Center "Kurchatov Institute", was held.
Director of the NRC "Kurchatov Institute" Marat Kambolov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Evgeny Kablov, President of the Association of aero engines manufacturers, Victor Chuiko, management and employees of the NRC “Kurchatov institute” – VIAM have taken part in the event.
Acting Director General of NRC "Kurchatov Institute" – VIAM Vladislav Antipov opened the solemn meeting “In the nine decades a long way has been covered, and we have the right to be proud of our legendary history - the Institute has always held a leading position and solved strategically important tasks for its time. VIAM has developed materials for Il-2, jet aircraft, nuclear project, propulsion units, ISS Energia-Buran and other key projects.”
The merits of the institute are marked by the highest awards - the Order of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, and gratitude from the President of the Russian Federation. “I am very pleased and proud to inform, that the President of the Russian Federation has announced the fifth gratitude to the employees of NRC “Kurchatov institute” – VIAM for their contribution to the development of the domestic industry, the development and implementation of innovative technologies,” said Vladislav Antipov.
In his speech, he expressed his gratitude to Evgeny Kablov, thanks to whom the institute survived in difficult years, gained a leading position and has a serious impact on the country's innovative development.
Deputy Director of NRC "Kurchatov Institute" for Legal Affairs and Control, Valery Pesenko noted that materials science is one of the most important areas of science, and NRC "Kurchatov Institute" - VIAM has firmly taken a leading position in this area. The Institute is the leading research institute of the military-industrial complex for the creation of advanced materials and technologies for aviation, space-rocket and nuclear technology, the largest materials science center of the Russian Federation.
“Our country is in difficult conditions due to unprecedented sanctions pressure. This is a challenge to our scientists, to our specialists. We set ourselves objectives to ensure the development and serial production of aircrafts entirely on the basis of domestic materials that meet the world level of development of materials science. And I am sure that the All-Russian Research Institute of Aviation Materials, which in 2021 became part of the National Research Center “Kurchatov Institute”, will be able to implement the developments that are currently available, and moreover, to offer something radically new, ”said Valery Pesenko.
In conclusion, he congratulated the employees of the institute on an important date and emphasized: “It depends on you, dear colleagues, with what success our country will be able to withstand challenges from outside. I wish you health, well-being, creative power and a great desire to realize all the unique experience that has been accumulated within the walls of NRC "Kurchatov Institute" - VIAM!
Academician of RAS, Evgeny Kablov noted in his speech that VIAM has a colossal scientific and technical potential, but the key asset of the institute is people: “The employees of the institute is the foundation that allows us to say with confidence that the institute looks to the future with confidence. I am convinced that all the new goals and objectives that the Russian aviation industry faces today will be successfully implemented by VIAM scientists and specialists.”
During the event, Director of NRC "Kurchatov Institute" Marat Kambolov presented awards from the National Research Center "Kurchatov Institute" to the employees of the Institute. Also, awards were presented from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of RF, the governors of the Samara and Nizhny Novgorod regions, the Perm Territory, the Federal Research Center "Yakutsk Scientific Center of the Siberian Branch of RAS", the Association of aero engines manufacturers and JSC "Aviaprom". In addition, employees were awarded medals of NRC "Kurchatov Institute" - VIAM.
