The All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) has become one of the co-founders of the Association of additive technologies development. State corporations “Rosatom”, “Roscosmos”, “Rostec”, JSC “Almaz – Antey” Air and Space Defence Corporation” and JSC “Gazprom” have also become the members of the Association. 

The activity of this new structure will allow controlling strategic, production and research and development plans and resources of its members for the development of additive technologies market in our country. The key purpose of VIAM is creation and significant enlargement of market of metal powder and polymer compositions for additive technologies. 

So far, VIAM has created the first and the only full cycle of additive manufacturing in Russia – from manufacturing of burden blanks of specific alloys and high-purity metal powder compositions (up to 190 tons per year) to the development of additive technologies of production of critical parts for aviation and rocket and space equipment. Institute produces metal powder compositions of alloys on the basis of iron, nickel, cobalt, aluminum and titanium.
