The technical committee for standardization TK 182 “Additive Technologies” was authorized to take part in the work of the ISO/ТС 261 “Additive Technologies” technical committee of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). 

It is worth reminding that the representatives of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) are included into the TK 182.  Напомним, что в состав ТК 182 входят представители Всероссийского научно-исследовательского института авиационных материалов (ВИАМ). The first Deputy Director general Olga G. Ospennikova is the co-chairperson of the technical committee, and the front office is formed on the basis of the Institute.

Within the work of the ISO/TC 261 international technical committee the representatives of ТК 182 express the position of Russia, take part in the working parties on standards development, consider the projects of international standards on different stages and contribute their suggestions. Russia has a status of a full-fledged member of this technical committee and is able to influence on the development of the ISO standards voting on various issues of committee’s activity.  

Standardization in additive manufacturing deals with terms and definitions, manufacturing processes, hardware and software, properties of the raw materials, requirements to the personnel and many other issues that are important for ensuring the quality of the products. The issues of international standardization lay the foundation for global interaction, therefore, this topic is given an increased attention.   

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a recognized organization engaged in the development and publication of international standards. ISO is an independent non-governmental organization with national standardization bodies involved. International standards promotes the implementation of innovation and overcoming of the global technology challenges.
